Boeing has received nearly $400 million to modernise AH-64D Apache Guardian attack helicopters for Egypt and Kuwait

A few days ago, the US Department of Defence awarded Boeing a contract to upgrade AH-64D Apache Guardian helicopters. They are intended for Kuwait and Egypt.

Here's What We Know

The amount of the deal was $393 million. The US AH-64D attack helicopters will be upgraded to the AH-64E level. Work under the contract will take place at Boeing's Arizona plant until 31 December 2027.

Egypt launched a programme to upgrade the AH-64D Apache Longbow to the AH-64E Apache Guardian standard in January last year. The African country ordered 45 helicopters in 2003 and 2010 at a cost of $2.3bn.

Kuwait signed a contract for 16 AH-64D Block I helicopters in 2002. Deliveries began five years later. Kuwait intends to modernise all 16 helicopters and purchase an additional eight AH-64Es.
