Replacement of 2K12 Kub SAMs: Hungary received the first batch of NASAMS surface-to-air missile systems
The Hungarian Army has received the Swedish NASAMS air defence systems, which will replace the Soviet 2K12 Kub SAMs.

Information was shared by the Ministry of Defence of Hungary. We are talking about two platoons. In total, Hungary is to receive 7 platoons of SAMS.
The contract for the purchase of systems was signed in 2020. The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace together with the American Raytheon is engaged in the supply of SAMs. By the way, Hungary became the 13th country to start operating NASAMS.

NASAMS is a mobile surface-to-air missile system for destroying manoeuvring targets at low and medium altitudes. The system was developed in the early 90s by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence with the participation of the American Raytheon. The SAM system entered service with the Norwegian Armed Forces in 1994. The AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles have a range of 20-40 kilometres and a maximum altitude of 20 kilometres.
