Xiaomi 14 - Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, three 50MP cameras, 120Hz record-brightness display, IP68 protection and the new Hyper priced from $545
As planned, Xiaomi has announced a new generation of flagship smartphones. The first model is the Xiaomi 14.
Here's What We Know
The smartphone has a metal frame. The dimensions of the case were 152.8 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm and the weight is 188 g (eco-leather) or 193 g (glass). The case has IP68 water and dust resistance and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Xiaomi 14 is equipped with the next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor, which was announced two days earlier at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit conference. The Chinese company claims that the new SoC uses an advanced liquid cooling system with an evaporation chamber for efficient performance.
On the front, there is an AMOLED TCL C8 display that features a record-breaking brightness of 3,000 nits. The panel has a resolution of 2670 x 1200 pixels, a frame refresh rate of 1-120Hz, and support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. The diagonal is 6.36". There is a 32 MP front camera mounted at the top centre.
The main camera uses three 50 MP modules. The 75mm telephoto lens has floating focus, 3.2x zoom, optical stabilisation and Samsung S5KJN1 sensor. The standard camera has a 1/1.31" optical format sensor with 1.2µm pixels. OIS is also present. Naturally, the smartphone features Leica optics.
The power subsystem in the Xiaomi 14 is represented by a battery with a capacity of 4610 mA*h. The wired and wireless charging power was 90W and 50W respectively. The flagship also got NFC, in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Xiaomi 14 is the first smartphone from the Chinese company to get HyperOS software. The model is already available for pre-order in 8/256GB, 12/256GB, 16/512GB and 16/1024GB variants priced at $545, $585, $630 and $685 respectively. The global version is expected to be released in 2024.
