История фирменных планшетов Mircosoft входит в очередную фазу, которую сложно назвать новой. Это не революция, не очередная ступень, это просто еще один эпизод бесславной истории планшетов на Windows. Спасибо, что на этот раз речь идет о "Windows 8.1 с обновлением до Windows 10" (мне иногда кажется, что это и есть полное название этой операционной системы), а не о мертворожденной Windows RT. Microsoft понадобилось целых два с половиной года, чтобы признать очевидную беспомощность этой системы. Воистину, как говорил Билл Гейтс, в крупной компании для того, чтобы принять решение быстро нужно 6 недель, а не 6 месяцев. Быстро так и не получилось. За что Стив Балмер поплатился своим теплым местом Самого Главного.
Что нам нужно знать о Surface 3? Это самый тонкий и самый легкий (621 грамм) из Surface, оснащенный 4-ядерным процессором Intel Atom x7 и 10.8-дюймовым экраном с разрешением 1920х1280. Заявленное время автономной работы составляет 10 часов, есть выход на наушники, Display Port и гнездо для карт памяти microSD. Поставляться планшет будет в 4 модификациях: с 64 и 128 ГБ памяти, а также с LTE-модемом и без него. В младших версиях используется 2 ГБ ОЗУ, в старших — 4 ГБ. Предзаказ в США уже открыт. Младшая модификация без модема стоит 500 долларов, старшая — 600. Продажи должны начаться 5 мая. Стоимость модификаций с модемами пока не объявлена. Их цена, согласно современным законам маркетинга, будет выше, в зависимости от жадности, на сумму от 50 до 100 долларов.
Стилус, докинговая станция и крышка с клавиатурой в комплект поставки, разумеется, не входит, что делает покупку весьма привлекательной (на самом деле нет). Концепция «планшет и ноутбук в одном» с такими ценами и техническими характеристиками не выдерживает никакой критики, что ежегодно подтверждается соответствующими результатами продаж. Что оставляет надежды для Asus и Acer относительно успешно продающих свои трансформеры за вменяемые деньги.

На картинках планшет выглядит довольно симпатично. Почти наверняка вживую он будет выглядеть великолепно. Во всяком случае за внешний вид предыдущих Surface никому стыдно не было.

Pre-order and availability
Surface 3 and new accessories will be available for pre-order starting March 31 through microsoftstore.com, Microsoft stores8 and select partner retailers in the following markets: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Commercial customers should contact their authorized reseller for pre-order information.
Starting May 5 through those same retailers and resellers, customers can begin purchasing Surface 3, Surface 3 Type Cover, Surface Pen, Surface 3 Docking Station and Surface 3 Screen Protector, with availability in all 26 markets by May 7. Microsoft will offer Surface 3 (4G LTE) through T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless in the U.S. later this year.
