Halo closes its Xbox 360 online servers
Microsoft and 343 Industries have officially stopped online support for all original Halo games on the Xbox 360, and players can no longer connect.
343 Industries has confirmed that online services for outdated Halo games on the Xbox 360 have been discontinued. Earlier, the developer announced that the Xbox 360 Halo games will go offline in December 2021, but later postponed the stop until January 13, 2022. The list includes: Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 3, Halo 3: PAR, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Hello Wars and Spartan Assault
The Halo series has been one of the most popular multiplayer games for the Xbox 360. The online gaming community has remained active for many years after the launch of the projects. Many online modes and special content in each game made players come back again and again. Halo's ideas have had a huge impact on the multiplayer shooter market. Many great mechanics have been implemented in the exemplary Halo 3, which still remains the most popular game in The Master Chief Collection.
Online services for legacy Halo Xbox 360 titles have been discontinued. The affected games will remain playable indefinitely, but some experiences will be impacted.
