Activision Blizzard did not recognize the Raven testers' union
As soon as Raven Software stopped the strike, Activison Blizzard's management immediately released its sharp claws. Initially, the company split a single division of testers from different divisions, but now has refused to recognize the newly formed union.
It will be recalled that the staff of the Raven quality control department decided to unite in the Game Workers Alliance - it will become part of the Communication Workers of America. So far, the alliance has 34 members, but most of the department's employees support their intentions. In this regard, the group sent a request to the leadership to voluntarily recognize the union.
A few days later, Activision Blizzard issued a refusal to recognize the merger. According to the statement, the company tried to reach an agreement with the CWA, but the parties failed to reach an agreement. At the same time, management states that every employee should have the right to vote and be heard. AB continues to stand its ground: direct interaction between management and employees is better. "This allows you to respond faster, achieve better results and opportunities for employees," - it is emphasized in the letter.
Now a group of Raven employees intends to apply to the US National Department of Labor. Activision Blizzard is ready for this development, so it will officially respond to the petition.
To approve a union through the Office, you need the support of more than 50% of Raven testers. There should be no problems at this stage - according to the CWA, the idea of an alliance is approved by 78% of the department. However, AB's message is that all Raven staff, more than 350 people, need to be heard. If the company's bosses emphasize this, it will be more difficult to form a union.
