Google allows users to remove personal information from search results
Google has previously provided users with the ability to request that sensitive information about themselves be removed from search results. And now these possibilities are expanded.
How it works?
“Users can now request the deletion of additional types of information when they find it in search results, including personal contact information such as a phone number, email address, or physical address. The policy also allows you to remove additional information that may pose a risk of identity theft, such as sensitive login credentials, when it appears in search results.
You can remove the following information:
- Confidential Government Identification Numbers (ID) such as U.S. Social Security Number, Argentine Uniform Tax Identification Number, Brazilian Resident Registration Number, Korean Resident Registration Number, Chinese Resident ID, etc.
- Bank account numbers
- Credit card numbers
- Images of handwritten signatures
- Images of identification documents
- Very personal, limited and official records such as medical records
- Personal contact information (physical addresses, phone numbers and email addresses)
- Confidential Login Credentials
To do this, you need to send a request to Google, indicating the address of the site where personal information is published, as well as the URL of the search pages that show it. After that, the company will check and decide on the removal of information.
