Found a way to bypass US sanctions and add Huawei P50 Pro support for 5G. And oh it works!
Sanctions imposed by the United States of America prevent Huawei from using US equipment and technology to support 5G. Therefore, the latest flagships of the Chinese manufacturer offer work only in 4G networks. However, now a way has been found to trick the system.
How to do it?
The workaround is a case with a built-in 5G modem, manufactured by Soyealink. It has an eSIM slot for a 5G modem and a base dual-core 1.35GHz processor. However, everything (including the eSIM setup) is managed from the phone. There's even a signal strength indicator on the status bar, so it seems like the phone itself connects to 5G without any problems.
In addition, such a cover does not disfigure the smartphone in any way. It is about 3.2 mm thick and weighs 52 g. The outer part is made of polyurethane with a leather-like texture. At the moment there is only one color, light gray.
The case communicates with (and is powered by) your phone via USB. The native USB-C port can be used for charging, including SuperCharge support, and data transfer (USB 2.0 speeds).
This case costs $120. True, at the moment it is only released for the flagship Huawei P50 Pro.
