The US Department of Defense reports that Air Force pilots have already loaded long-range M777 howitzers for transportation to Ukraine. The photo shows a new batch of howitzers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, loaded into a military transport aircraft.
“The pilots are providing transportation of 155mm M777 towed howitzers as part of US assistance to ensure the security of Ukraine,” the US defense department said in a statement.
As part of additional military assistance for $100 million US to give Ukraine 18 more M777 howitzers. Another 89 guns have already been delivered to the country, and they are already being used on the battlefield.
Recently, Pentagon Speaker John Kirby said that artillery has become a critical element for Ukraine. “We know that most, the vast majority of the howitzers that we sent are on the front line in different places in Ukraine, and the Ukrainians use them and do it quite effectively.”
Recall that the M777 is an American 155-millimeter towed howitzer that shoots at a distance of up to 30 km or more (depending on the projectiles). It is used by the ground forces of the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, and now Ukraine.
