Close the sky from enemy missiles: as part of the aid package, the United States will transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, which have long been requested

Recently, the United States approved a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine. Within the framework of the bill, $20 billion will go to direct military assistance.

What will we get?

According to The Washington Post, as part of the assistance package, Ukraine will receive modern American Patriot air defense systems.

The bill, approved Thursday by an 86-to-11 vote, provides for $20 billion in universal military assistance that is expected to fund the transfer of advanced weapons systems such as Patriot air defense systems and long-range artillery.

By the way, Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, posted a photo of the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) on social networks and wrote: “We are waiting.”

Recall that the Patriot air defense system is an American anti-aircraft missile system developed by Raytheon. It consists of an air interception missile and a high performance radar system. The probability of hitting an aircraft is 0.8-0.9, tactical missiles - 0.6-0.8. The cost of one rocket is about 3 million dollars.

By the way, Ukraine asked the United States to transfer the Patriot air defense system even before the war, and after February 24, 2022, this request became one of the main ones (along with aircraft and tanks), but so far it has not been satisfied.
