Ukrainians found a downed Kalibr cruise missile with a surviving warhead weighing 400 kg in the forest

In the war against Ukraine, the Russian Federation does not hesitate to use almost all of its weapons. In particular, the Caliber cruise missiles. One of them was shot down by anti-aircraft defense in the spring. A month later, ordinary Ukrainians found the rocket in the forest.

What is known

Photos of the cruise missile were published by the Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She was discovered in the forest in the Vinnitsa region by local foresters. The combat unit survived. Its weight is 400 kg. The missile itself was shot down by air defense forces on May 21.

The military notes that the wreckage is also dangerous. This applies not only to this case, but to all ammunition in general. If found, immediately report it to local authorities, police or military.

The Caliber cruise missile was developed in 1983. It can be launched from submarines or surface ships. In the first case, torpedo tubes are used, and in the second, vertical launchers. The firing range against ground targets is 2500 km.
