One of the co-authors of Sonic Origins is dissatisfied with the quality of the game - SEGA broke his work
Sonic Origins - a collection of the first "Sonics" with various updates. Among the developers were the people who did Sonic Mania, - their technical skills are very quoted in the community of fans of the blue hedgehog. But with Sonic Origins something went wrong - as one of its developers thinks, NOW broke the already not perfect project.
Revelations shared Simon Tomley, software engineer of Headcannon studio. In short, his words are as follows:
- Headcannon worked not on all his games in the collection, but only with the version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles on the well-proven Retro Engine. It was designed as a separate project, not part of Sonic Origins
- But because NOW introduced Sonic 3 from Headcannon in Origins, even more bugs were born, including critical ones. This affects Tomley: Many of the flaws that the community began to attribute to his team actually arose through the developers at NOW.
- Headcannon tried to spend more time on development, wanted to make big program changes for the sake of correction of miscalculations, but NOW was adamant and did not allow anything to be done. Tomley and his team have offered to release patches at least after the release, but they do not yet know if they will agree NOW on this. If we interpret the words correctly Tomley, then the contract NOW with Headcannon completed, and to produce patches for Origins it will have to be processed again.
Sonic Origins received positive reviews in the press, but the community in Steam estimates the collection much more modestly - 56% at the time of writing. Players complain about performance (and suspect it's a case of Denuvo), muted music in Sonic 3, lovely graphics and bugs of various kinds - for example, one of the users claims that the built-in player has confused song names. Some like the new cut scenes, museum, mission mode and 16: 9 support, but many recommend staying on fan collections and mods like Sonic 3 A.I.R.
We will remind, in Sonic Origins enter Sonic the Hedgehog,, Sonic the Hedgehog 2,, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD. The collection came out on PC,, PlayStation,, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
