The Ukrainian military told how the rare 1947 S-60 anti-aircraft gun works in tandem with a modern drone
The Armed Forces of Ukraine use a 75-year-old anti-aircraft artillery system along with modern technologies in the form of a consumer drone.
What is known
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told how the Ukrainian military managed to “make friends” with the S-60 anti-aircraft artillery system with the AZP-57 gun of 57 mm caliber and the company’s quadrocopter DJI. The drone is used to adjust the accuracy of the fire.
Serial production of guns began in the 40s of the last century. The copy, the pictures of which were published by the General Staff, was made in 1947. An anti-aircraft gun can hit a 13" wheel with direct guidance from a distance of 1.5 km. The S-60 fires bursts twice as far as tanks and grenade launchers.
Drone use DJI greatly simplifies the work with anti-aircraft guns. Previously, SON-9 gun guidance stations or PUAZO-6 anti-aircraft fire control devices were used for automatic guidance, which over time were seen on the RPK-1 Vaza instrument complex.
