The fantasy royal battle of Spellbreak will be close in early 2023
Do you remember such a shareware "battle piano" Spellbreak? Hardly. It seems that even the developers from The Proletariat forgot about it - the last major update came out almost six months ago. As a result, the team decided to close the project completely.
The studio released update 4.20 without any description along with the appeal. In it, The Proletariat thanked the community for its support and announced its decision:
"After more than four years of elemental magic and combining spells, we decided to stop developing Spellbreak. We are grateful to all members of the gaming community for exploring the magical worlds and impressions we have created together. Spellbreak was an ambitious project that helped our team expand its boundaries in design and development, and we are excited to continue to innovate with new games in the future. "
The studio manager Seth Sivak also spoke out. He briefly retold the path Spellbreak and noted its strengths, including, for example, full-fledged cross-play and cross-release on release. According to him, the "battle piano" could not achieve a stable position and could not compete with "the biggest games in the world." But neither he nor the team regrets the time spent.
Spellbreak launched quite briskly: three weeks after launch, it attracted the attention of more than five million gamers, was included in the list of the best new products in Steam for December 2020 and in the sales chart PlayStation for January 2021. According to the boss of The Proletariat, more than ten million people have been involved in the project over the years.
Servers Spellbreak will be turned off early next year. It will be recalled that the game was released in 2020 on PC, PlayStation, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
