The other day Ubisoft announced that it is shutting down servers for a number of games, including Year 2070. Obviously, in a subsidiary studio Blue Byte there is still room for self-activity: employees have announced that they want to save some online elements Year 2070 despite the decision Ubisoft.

"We inform you that Ubisoft decided to disable the online services of some old games from September 1. <...> As you know, in Year 2070 there are several features associated with online services.

After our initial investigation, we decided to allocate some production resources to improve the aging online infrastructure Year 2070 to the new system. Thus, the mentioned features will work even after September 1. But for now, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to successfully improve or replace the old services as we would like.

Remember that until September 1, the current online services remain in order. We will provide more details about the future Year 2070 in the coming weeks and months" - application of developers. 

Year 2070 relies heavily on online: for the first time, the game refuses to start offline and asks you to log in, and in addition to the standard multiplayer entertainment, there is co-op, player voting for near-term bonuses, profiles, internal friend lists and rewards for multiplayer activity. 

Release Year 2070 took place in November 2011. The game received positive reviews in the press in the region of 83 out of 100, but users Steam leave mixed reviews: mostly not related to the game itself, but to the accumulation of DRM and glitches in the layer Ubisoft Connect
