What we know
The head of the state center for defense investments Magnus-Valdemar Saar (Magnus-Valdemar Saar) said that lawyers are drafting a contract to purchase six HIMARS units and ammunition for them. The weapons provided for in the agreement will be delivered to Estonia by the end of 2025. The U.S. State Department has already approved the deal.
According to Saar, the purchase of multiple launch rocket systems could significantly increase the country's defense capabilities. It should be noted that HIMARS first came to Estonia as part of an exercise that took place in the country in 2016.
U.S. HIMARS give the ability to destroy important enemy military facilities through high-precision missile strikes. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been demonstrating this perfectly for the last month.
The $500,000,000,000 contract will include 36 guided missiles HIMARS GMLRS 227 mm caliber, missile blocks and rockets in addition to six units. According to the Chief of Defence Staff, Estonia intends to receive ATACMS missiles with a range of 300 km.
