The UK will provide Ukraine with more than 20 M109 self-propelled howitzers, 36 L119 guns and hundreds of drones
The United Kingdom continues to assist Ukraine in the fight against the Russian army.
What we know
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced that more than 20 self-propelled artillery units of M109 and 36 towed howitzers L119 will be sent to Ukraine. Deliveries are scheduled for "the coming weeks."
Along with the howitzers, Great Britain will transfer counter-battery radars, 50,000 artillery shells, hundreds of drones and 1,600 anti-tank shells. Note that Britain has already sent 6,900 NLAW, Javelin, Brimstone and other anti-tank systems to Ukraine.
Recall that L119 is a light towed howitzer of 105 mm caliber. It is used to support infantry assault groups and paratroopers. The maximum range of fire is 19 km. The gun can destroy enemy personnel and lightly armored vehicles.
M109 is an American-made self-propelled artillery unit. Nowadays there are relatively frequent videos of the use of the M109 howitzer given by Norway. The machine is built on a tracked chassis. The caliber is 155 mm. Firing range is up to 30 km. In addition to the 155 mm gun the artillery unit has a 12.7 mm M2 machine gun.
