The US still sees no sign that Russia bought Shahed-129 drones from Iran
The United States does not confirm the information that Russia bought combat drones from Iran.
What we know
On July 16, the United States shared intelligence that Russia is being prepared to buy Iranian drones Shahed, which can be equipped with high-precision missiles. In a few days, the State Dept stated about the lack of signs that Iran has started supplying UAVs. However, at the end of last week, the publication Censor.net wrote that drones Shahed-129 went across the Caspian Sea to Russia.
In an interview AlArabiya National Security Council representative John Kirby once again voiced the thesis stated a week ago. The United States still has no indication that Russia has purchased drones from Iran, the official said.
Kirby also emphasized that the very search for drones in other countries indicates the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia. Sanctions have a strong impact on the aggressor's defense-industrial complex and have put Putin in a vice.
