German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which is soon to be approved by the budget committee of parliament.
What we know
New arms supplies Olaf Scholz called "a contribution to the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The modernization of the AFU will begin only in 2023. Although Reuters does not exclude that Ukraine may receive German aid earlier.
The €500 million package includes three IRIS-Tair defense systems. By the way, German Defense Minister Annalena Baerbock said that the anti-aircraft missile systems could be transferred to Ukraine "in the coming weeks'.
In addition to IRIS-T, the Armed Forces will receive a dozen evacuation armored vehicles, high-precision munitions, systems for countering drones and 20 missile launchers, which we probably wrote about earlier. COBRA radar stations do not appear in the Reuters story.
