India has advanced in negotiations with the U.S. to purchase the MQ-9B Predator attack drones. They are essentially the same as the MQ-9 Reaper drones.
Here's What We Know
Bloomberg reports this, citing Press Trust India. According to the sources, the contract amount will be more than $3 billion. The drone procurement program is at an advanced stage of discussions between Washington and New Delhi.
The deal was approved back in 2019. A year after that, India received two drones for the Navy to provide reconnaissance of the nation's maritime borders. A total of 30 drones will be delivered by the U.S. under the contract. Press Trust India sources deny that the deal has been put on hold.
