Royal British Air Force to move Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35 Lightning II fighters to regional airports for the first time since World War II
Britain will send planes from airbases to regional airports in the United Kingdom for the first time since 1939 to withdraw combat aircraft from a potential strike.
Here's What We Know
The redeployment of Eurofighter Typhoon and F-35 Lightning II fighters is under the Agile Combat Employment plan amid Russian military aggression against Ukraine. The plan has been in development for more than a year to respond to possible conflicts in the Middle East, NATO's eastern flank and the Indo-Pacific.
Royal Air Force combat aircraft will go to regional airports for the first time since World War II. The Agile Combat Employment plan calls for providing airports with the fuel and equipment needed to maintain the planes. In addition, financial incentives for the private sector are to be part of the negotiations.
