Biden approves Trump's canceled $450 million program to keep F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters in the Pakistani Air Force

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has approved a life-cycle maintenance program for the Pakistan Air Force's F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.

Here's What We Know

The program was put on pause in 2018 by Donald Trump. However, the Biden administration reversed the previous president's decision. Thus, the United States will supply the Pakistan Air Force with equipment to support and maintain its fleet of fourth-generation fighter jets. The program is estimated at $450 million.

It is possible that such a decision was made so that Pakistan would not seek help from China. Even before Trump, the administration of President Barack Obama had frozen two aid packages worth more than $1 billion. In this regard, Pakistan began to reduce its dependence on U.S. military technology, and as an alternative, chose Chinese solutions to meet defense needs.
