The new build of Windows 11 now supports third-party widgets and a new feature in Teams

Microsoft is finally adding support for third-party widgets and new chat features to Microsoft Teams in the new build of Windows 11.

Here's What We Know

Third-party developers can now create test widgets of their own for Windows 11. For now, the feature is available locally on the latest Insider Preview build, but there are plans to put them on the Microsoft Store later. The company says that for now, widget creation will only be available for Win32 programs, but will later add support for web apps as part of Microsoft Edge 108.

In addition to extraneous widgets, there are also new features for Chat in Microsoft Teams. When you open Chat in the taskbar, you'll be able to view an image from your own camera, allowing you to tidy up your appearance or spot any errors with your camera before you start.

When We Can Expect It

Microsoft hopes to roll out the feature to users in the coming months, but it's currently being tested on a "small subset of users." If you're a member of the Windows Insider program, you can try running Chat from the Windows 11 taskbar to see if you're one of the lucky ones.
