In September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down a Mohajer-6 Iranian drone for the first time. The drone was not destroyed, so it was captured and delivered to specialists for study.

Here's What We Know

The General Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and specialized specialists were able to disassemble the Iranian drone. They noted that the manufacturer had gone to great lengths to make it difficult to establish the country of origin of the Mohajer-6. At the same time, many parts have inscriptions in English with mistakes.

The study of downed drones allows finding the weaknesses of aircrafts, which increases the effectiveness of air defense means to combat them. According to experts, the captured Mohajer-6 was unwound "to the last screw."

As expected, foreign components were found inside the UAV. In particular, the engine of the Austrian company Rotax Aircraft Engines. Also the drone is equipped with components from Japan, China and the United States. In most cases the components are civilian ones.

The captured Mohajer-6 was released in February 2022. It has a takeoff weight of 600 kg and can carry a payload of up to 100 kg. The range of the drone is 200 km, time - up to 12 hours, and the maximum speed - 200 km/h. As a weapon, the drone uses Almas missiles with a launch range of up to 8 km.
