The Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) unveiled a kamikaze drone whose primary mission is to destroy enemy radars.

Here's What We Know

The hovering munition is called the Chien Hsiang. It is designed to destroy radars both on land and at sea. The developer states that the drone can be used to eliminate other drones right in the air, but how it is implemented, no one knows.

Chien Hsiang picks up the signal from the radar, and then begins moving toward the target. If the signal is lost during flight, the kamikaze drone will hover in midair. It has a maximum flight speed of 600 km/h and a range of 1,000 km.

In terms of appearance, the Chien Hsiang resembles Israel's IAI Harpy or Iran's Shahed-136. The manufacturer states that the launch pad for the borne ammunition is a special vehicle. The launchers can be positioned anywhere on the island, and each is designed for a maximum of 12 drones. Taiwan plans to produce 104 kamikaze drones within three years.
