Patriot SAMs, missiles for HIMARS, Cougar MRAP armored vehicles, HMMWVs and JDAM aircraft ammunition: The United States announces the largest military aid package for Ukraine worth $1,850,000,000

The United States continues to support Ukraine against Russian invaders by announcing a new military aid package.

Here's What We Know

The new package is for $1,850,000,000 and is broken into two parts. The first part of the $1,000,000,000,000 worth of weapons is being transferred to Ukraine at the initiative of U.S. President Joseph Biden, and the second part of $850,000,000,000 is under the USAI (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative) program.

• A Patriot battery with missiles
• Ammunition for HIMARS
• 500 high precision artillery shells (155 mm)
• 10 mortar systems (120 mm) and 10,000 mortar rounds (120 mm)
• 10 mortar systems (82 mm)
• 10 mortar systems (60 mm)
• 37 Cougar MRAP armored vehicles
• 120 HMMWVs
• 6 general purpose armored trucks
• Unspecified number of HARM missiles
• Unspecified number of JDAM high-precision aircraft ammunition
• More than 2,700 grenade launchers and small arms
• Claymore anti-personnel mines
• Explosive ordnance and equipment
• Night vision goggles and optics
• Tactical protected communications systems
• Body armor and other field equipment

USAI Assistance Package:

• 45,000 artillery shells (152 mm)
• 20,000 artillery shells (122 mm)
• 50,000 rockets for BM-21 "Grad" systems (122 mm)
• 100,000 tank ammunition (125 mm)
• SATCOM terminals and services;
• Funding for training and maintenance

Weapons deliveries will begin in the near future.
