Germany transfers additional Gepard anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine

The German government has updated the list of military aid for Ukraine.

Here’s What We Know

According to the Bundeswehr website, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received two additional Gepard anti-aircraft units and 6,000 munitions for them. That is a total of 32 anti-aircraft tanks in Ukraine now. In addition, Germany intends to send five more units in the near future, as well as five Dachs engineer tanks and five Biber bridging tanks.

Flashback

The Gepard is a German-made self-propelled anti-aircraft launcher. It is built on the chassis of the Leopard tank and is intended to cover ground troops, destroy air targets at an inclined range of 100m to 4km and at altitudes of up to 3km flying at 350-400m/s, as well as ground and surface targets at ranges of up to 4500m. The AFU uses the Gepard to destroy Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-136 and other aerial targets.
