AFU receives Italian OTO Melara M109L anti-tank gun with a range of up to 40km

This time the Ukrainian Armed Forces received Italian OTO Melara M109L howitzers. Photos of the SAU were published on Twitter. There is no information on how many of these self-propelled howitzers are in service. Presumably, we are talking about 30-40 units.

Despite Italian government keeping aid to Ukraine under secrecy, reportedly around 20-30 M109L were to be delivered to Ukrainian military.

Flashback
The OTO Melara M109L is the Italian upgraded version of the American M109 self-propelled howitzer. The key difference between the gun is the new barrel developed by Leonardo Defence Systems. It has a maximum range of 40 km using active-rocket projectiles.
