Call Annie: iPhone app released that allows you to talk to ChatGPT via video call
Animato.Ai has unveiled an app called Call Annie on the App Store that allows you to chat 'live' with artificial intelligence ChatGPT.
Details
The app turns ChatGPT into a digital female avatar called Annie, with which users can communicate via video chat. According to the app's creators, such real-time communication feels more natural and faster than typing and reading text.
Annie is not bad at keeping up a conversation and can become a regular conversationalist or a virtual assistant to prompt the necessary information (news, weather, maps, voice commands, etc.). Annie sometimes mispronounces words, but she learns quickly and improves her skills over time. The AI only speaks English, Italian and Spanish.
Not to be too much of an AI Doomer but I just had a FaceTime call with a near real-time ChatGPT-powered AI avatar and it was...surprisingly human.

Anyway, I recorded it.
This is the actual response speed, it's very fast.

Animato's description on the App Store notes that the AI keeps all conversations private, but does not specify what security measures have been taken. The developer also stresses that it doesn't sell the data to third parties and that users can delete the web search history in the app at their discretion.
The Call Annie app is only available for Apple products because it takes advantage of Apple's Neural Engine. You can only install it on iPhone 12 or newer smartphones. You can also use it on macOS 13 computers with an M-series processor inside.
