Indie fishing game developer Dredge shares its development plan for 2023

Dredge was an unforgettable hit in the fishing game genre last year. Its March release impressed players and critics alike with its uniqueness and cosiness. Dredge's developer, Black Salt Games, intends to continue this success and has already shared its plans for 2023 via the PlayStation blog.

Here's What We Know

This year, Dredge will receive four updates, three of which will be free. The first update will be released in May and will allow players to use the long-awaited map feature in the game. They will be able to choose from different icons to see different aspects of the game, including hazards, shipwrecks and secrets.

The next update, coming in the second quarter of 2023, is likely to be much more attractive to new fans. It will attract the attention of those who are more inclined to a "cosy" experience by reducing the aggression of sea monsters in a new passive mode. Players will be able to relax and enjoy fishing and picturesque landscapes.

The developers are also planning to release a photo mode in the form of a new in-game character that will allow users to use the camera and guide them to places where the marine life is very beautiful to create great shots. This mode will also be connected to the Share button, allowing users to share their photos instantly.

The third and final free update, expected in the third quarter of 2023, will allow players to paint their boat with bright colours and decorate with flags, allowing you to create your own unique style. Even better, players will be able to unlock new boat and flag designs as they progress through the game.

As for the paid DLC, which is expected in the fourth quarter, it will immerse players in the depths of the Ironhaven Corporation's history, which has been revealed little by little throughout the game. This expansion pack will offer new buildings, characters, equipment and, of course, fish, as well as give players the opportunity to unravel the mysteries of the corporation's shadowy activities.

Dredge is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, MacOS, PC, and Linux.
