Poland receives first batch of US M1A1FEP Abrams tanks

The United States has handed over the first batch of Abrams tanks to Poland.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. We are talking about 14 fighting vehicles in M1A1FEP modification. The tanks will reinforce the 1st Armoured Brigade in Warsaw, which now uses German Leopard 2 tanks.

Incidentally, the 14 M1A1FEP Abrams tanks are part of a $1,400,000,000 contract that Poland signed in January 2023. In total, the Poles will receive 116 US combat vehicles under this contract.

Flashback

The M1A1FEP Abrams (Firepower Enhancement Package) is a deep upgrade of the M1A1 Abrams tank. The M1A1FEP boasts improved armour, upgraded opto-electronic system as well as a state-of-the-art battlefield fire control system.
