Bad news for Sea of Thieves fans: Season 10 launch postponed until October

Season 10 of Sea of Thieves was supposed to launch soon, as Season 9 started back in March, but Rare announced that the expected event would be slightly delayed.

Here's What We Know

Rare Studio has announced that the launch of Season 10 has been postponed to 19 October from the previously scheduled date in August. The reason is "problems with the implementation of new systems" in the game that require additional development time. The developers acknowledged that this delay will lead to a significant extension of Season 9 and that some players may have already completed it.

"We recognise that it’s not just the delay of new content that’s frustrating, but the impact on Season Nine’s length too. It was never our intention to have it last this long, and we understand that many of our players will have already hit Renown level 100 and feel like they’ve explored everything there is to see and do with the features introduced in Season Nine. We know you’ve come to expect a consistent rhythm of how and when we deliver new gameplay experiences, and Season 10’s delay means that we’ll be asking you to wait a little while longer to get your hands on a big, brand new feature."

However, players won't be left without new content - just last week, a collaboration with The Monkey Island was announced, during which three episodes are planned to be released. In addition, thanks to the extra time Rare has been given to develop season ten, they will also release another new feature that was planned for season eleven a month after the season ten launch.

Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC.
