SecurityLab: smartphones Google and Essential Phone before all get the latest security patches
The biggest problem with Android devices is the long updates. Nevertheless, Google using Project Treble found a solution. But in addition to global updates of OS versions, there are also special monthly updates of security patches. They are also important because they correct critical errors and vulnerabilities. Research firm SecurityLab published a report in which it showed the speed of release of updates and their distribution by manufacturers. The results were sad.
Among Android smartphones, the most current patches are received by Google devices and the smartphone from Essential. This happens within a few days after the announcement. And other OEMs, unfortunately, update the device, after a few weeks, or even months. It is clear that Google has a few smartphones, and Essential generally has one. But nevertheless, this does not justify the big producers. Perhaps, the recently announced Android Enterprise Recommended program will be able to improve the situation.
