Announcement Xiaomi Mi 6X: frameless screen, Snapdragon 660 chip, dual camera and AI functions
The company Xiaomi officially introduced the smartphone Mi 6X. The novelty has become an updated model of last year's Mi 5X. It was equipped with a top-end chip of the middle segment and a dual camera with AI functions.
What is known
The smartphone received a 5.99-inch LCD-display with a resolution of Full HD + (2160 × 1080p) and an aspect ratio of 18: 9. The 8-core Snapdragon 660 chip with the Adreno 512 graphics is responsible for the performance of the new product. The device was also equipped with 4/6 GB RAM of the type LPDDR 4X and 64/128 GB ROM. For autonomy, the battery responds to the 3010 mAh with support for quick charging Quick Charge 3.0 (0 to 50% for 30 minutes). The Mi 6X has a USB Type C connector, but unfortunately there is no 3.5 mm audio output and an NFC module. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, on top of which the MIUI 9.5 shell is installed. There are gestures of management and voice assistant Xiaomi, which was presented together with Mi Mix 2S a month ago.
At the presentation, most of the time was spent on the smartphone's cameras and compared them to the iPhone X (which without that). The main camera is dual for 12 Mp + 20 Mp, with the modules of Sony IMX486 (as in Redmi Note 5 Pro ) and Sony IMX376 respectively. The front camera is also 20 megapixel with the same module (Sony IMX376).
The dual camera has the functions of AI. Thanks to them, it can recognize objects and more than 206 kinds of scenes, while changing the settings for shooting. Also there is the possibility of translating text in real time into French, English, German, Korean, Indian languages. The front camera has "AI Beauty" and "AI night self-timer" modes, and can recognize 12 kinds of Selfie (wondering which ones?) And unlock the smartphone by scanning the face.
Price and when to wait
The start of smartphone sales in China will begin in two days - April 27. In total there will be 5 variants of colors: Cherry Pink, Red Flame, Glacier Blue, Quicksand Gold and Black Stone. For the younger configuration of 4/64 GB, you have to give $ 253, and for the average and top-end 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of ROM - $ 285 and $ 316, respectively. In addition to the Mi 6X, in the near future should be announced the global version of the smartphone Mi A2 with the same characteristics, but on the "clean" Android.
If we talk about competitors, then most likely, it's Nokia 7 Plus . The smartphone has similar characteristics, but it has more battery (3700 mAh) and there is an NFC-module. Although this smartphone is more expensive (about $ 430) than the Mi 6X.
