"Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn thinks Henry Cavill should play Superman from the USSR in the comic book adaptation of "Red Son"

"Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn wants to see Henry Cavill as Superman, just not in the way you might expect.

Here's What We Know

Vaughn, on BroBible's latest Post Credit podcast, admitted that he thinks "Red Son" is one of the best comic books of all time.

"Red Son" is a graphic novel written by Mark Millar, with art by Dave Johnson, Andrew Robinson, Walden Wong and Killian Plunkett.

"The plot of 'Red Son' is that Superman grew up in the Soviet Union, not the United States.

-"I thought Red Son was one of the cleverest comics I'd ever read, and the current world we're living in, it’s certainly become a lot more relevant because ignorance causes more issues, and I think the more we learn about Russia and the Russian history…" Vaughn said on the podcast.

He then added that Henry Cavill would have added "pluses" to the film : "Wow, could you imagine remaking Red Son with Henry Cavill? That would be an interesting movie…".

Cavill, of course, played Superman in the now-defunct DCEU universe. And it's been rumoured for some time that he would return to the role in James Gunn's new universe in the upcoming Superman: Legacy. But even after Cavill's announcement that he has hung up his Man of Steel suit on the hook and that the role of Superman will be played by David Corenswet, many can't give up on attributing the role of Clark Kent to Cavill.

Vaughn's latest film with Henry Cavill, Argylle, will be released tomorrow - February 2. We shared a little earlier that it managed to disappoint critics.
