Insider: Microsoft demands to speed up development of new Fallout instalment, but Bethesda is busy with The Elder Scrolls VI

The release of the Fallout series showed the huge public interest in the post-apocalyptic franchise. Almost all the games in the series have returned to the trends and are once again showing great sales.

Unfortunately for fans of the series, the last game was Fallout 76, which was released in 2018, and the new game, if it comes out, then, as analysts assure, not before 2030.

At the moment, Bethesda Game Studios is fully focused on The Elder Scrolls VI, but according to insider Jez Corden, Microsoft already has other plans.

Here's What We Know

On The Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden revealed that Microsoft is demanding that Bethesda CEO Todd Howard speed up production of Fallout 5. With the team busy with TES VI, Bethesda has two options, both of which are not the most reliable: delay the fantasy RPG and focus on Fallout 5, or outsource Fallout development to another studio.

Corden mentions Obsidian Entertainment as the most obvious candidate, as it's the studio that released Fallout: New Vegas, a favourite of millions of fans, and it also employs a lot of veterans who worked on the first game in 1997 as part of Interplay.

The phrase "release Fallout 5 as soon as possible" is also surprising, as even five years won't be enough time to create such a game.
