A simplified Google Maps bottom bar appears on Android
The new Google Maps bottom bar, unveiled yesterday at the I/O conference, is now rolling out to Android.
Here's What We Know
Google Maps is simplifying the bottom bar to make it easier to explore, navigate and enter data. The first and last tabs remain unchanged, but the "You" tab now includes the "Go", "Saved" and "Update" functions.
The bookmark icon in the Saved tab remains unchanged, keeping the same design. The top search bar no longer exists, and notifications and business messages are accessible from the top right corner. Notifications can be marked with an icon in the bottom bar. Meanwhile, the Get Started tab is now presented as a list called Saved Trips with an updated priority.
Google Maps does not yet use the tall bottom Material You or Dynamic Colour bar. However, the app is set to use a distinctive image carousel like Google Photos.
