Samsung's One UI 6.1.1.1 will block default installation of apps not from official sources

The new version of One UI 6.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6 smartphones has blocked the installation of apps from third-party sources by default. The feature, called "Auto Lock", is designed to protect the device from malicious files and USB attacks. It was first introduced in the One UI 6 based on Android 14, but the new version gets additional features.

Here's What We Know

During the initial setup of the device, a special page appears where you can disable this feature. If the user skips this page, the installation of APK files will be blocked by default. However, even after the setup is complete, Auto Lock can be disabled under Settings > Security & Privacy > Auto Lock.

There is also a new "Maximum Restrictions" option that blocks not only the installation but also the downloading of APK files. With the One UI 6.1.1 update, this feature is expected to be enabled by default on all compatible Galaxy devices.
