Researchers create internal solar cells with efficiency of up to 37%

Researchers at Kaunas University in Lithuania have created innovative indoor solar panels with an efficiency of up to 37%. These batteries are able to convert artificial light into energy much more efficiently than existing technologies.

Here's What We Know

The new solar cells, made of organic semiconductor and perovskite, can provide energy for small devices such as smart sensors and digital watches, even in minimal light.

Experiments have shown that the batteries achieve 37% efficiency when illuminated by a standard LED with a temperature of 3000 Kelvin, which is typical room lighting. This is a significant advance over traditional solar cells, which are about 19% efficient.

It is not yet known when the new technology will become commercially available, but the prospects look promising.
