Home Assistant releases major iOS update with custom widgets and new Assist features

The Home Assistant app for iOS has received a major update to version 2025.3, which brings several new features, including the ability to create custom widgets and improvements to the Assist voice assistant.
Here's What We Know
The Home Assistant iOS update now allows users to create customised widgets for their smart home. You can now choose which controls appear on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad. If you join the beta test, you will be able to view the status of your devices right in the widgets. Setup instructions are available in the app.
Another important update concerns the Assist voice assistant. In version 2025.3, it now supports streaming responses. This allows you to see how the response is generated in real time, rather than waiting for the entire response at once. Also, if additional user input is required to complete a response, the assistant can now continue recording.
It is not yet known when a similar update will be available for Android. The last update for this platform was released in January 2025.
Recently, the iOS 19 interface with round icons and new animations was shown online. One of the most noticeable changes is the rounder application icons. According to information, these icons are hidden by default in iOS 19 test builds. When you long press on a square-shaped icon (squircle), it should change to a more rounded one with an animation.
