Spotify's new policy: third-party developers will no longer know what music users prefer

Streaming music service Spotify has announced a change in its policy of granting third-party developers access to its API.
Here's What We Know
The Spotify platform will no longer provide developers of third-party applications with information about what music its users prefer.
The company argues that many app creators have abused the API and used the information for their own purposes.
As part of our ongoing efforts to address the security issues that many companies face today, we are making changes to our publicly available APIs.
The features to which Spotify will block access provide information about the preferences of users of the service, including frequently played songs. Such data could be used to create competitive artificial intelligence music recommendation models, which Spotify itself has been developing in recent years.
Third-party developers will also lose access to audio analysis and algorithmically created playlists.
These changes will only affect developers who have limited access to the API. For official partners, Spotify's API will remain available.
