Huawei has unveiled its new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system, which will be pre-installed on all of the company's devices released in 2025. Although HarmonyOS NEXT does not support Android apps at the factory level, users will be able to run them using an emulator called EasyAbroad.

Here's What We Know

This emulator is available on the Huawei AppGallery app shop and is designed for users who use HarmonyOS NEXT outside of China and have access to Google Mobile Services. EasyAbroad allows you to install and run popular Android apps such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Google Maps and others.

Apps running through the emulator will appear in a special folder on the device's home screen, but they can't be moved to the desktop. The emulator uses microG, a project that provides alternative implementations of Google Play Services components, which allows you to do without a Google account or connection to Google's servers. However, there may be issues with receiving notifications from some apps.

EasyAbroad is available in the latest HarmonyOS NEXT beta and, as reported by users of the emulator, Android apps load quickly and for the most part work without problems using microG.
