The new Astrohaus Freewrite Wordrunner mechanical keyboard was presented at CES 2025, which has an unusual feature - the ability to track the number of words being typed.

Here's What We Know

This is relevant for those who work with large amounts of text, especially for writers, bloggers or copywriters who want to monitor their productivity.

Freewrite Wordrunner is a keyboard only, without a screen, but with the ability to integrate with other devices via Bluetooth or USB. This allows you to use it for any kind of work. The Freewrite Wordrunner can connect to up to three devices via Bluetooth, including computers and mobile devices, and up to a fourth via a USB-C cable.

Mechanical keyboard switches provide a comfortable typing experience. They also feature noise reduction technology that allows you to work in silence. The keyboard is made of a sturdy aluminium body, which makes it durable and resistant to damage.

Another interesting feature is the Wordometer, an electromechanical word counter. This counter records the number of words you type and stores the data until you press the reset button.

There is also a built-in timer that displays the time elapsed while you type. The timer can be started and stopped with a single button press, just like the word counter.

The keyboard does not have the usual media buttons; instead, there is a red joystick in the upper left corner that allows you to control the media player. This unusual element makes it possible to scroll and perform other actions related to media content in four directions.

The price of this device has not been announced yet, but given the mechanical switches, metal body, and additional features, we can expect it to be quite high.
