TikTok CEO hopes Trump will help keep the app in the US

TikTok CEO Shou Ji Zhou responded to Donald Trump's comments on the US Supreme Court's decision to ban the app in the country.
Here's What We Know
In a video posted on TikTok, Zhou said that on behalf of all TikTok employees and users across the country, he wanted to thank President Trump for his commitment to work with the company to find a solution that will keep TikTok available in the US. He also emphasised that this is a strong stand in support of the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship.
TikTok is likely relying on Trump's support to keep the Chinese app legal in the US. Trump seems to want everyone to see him as the saviour of TikTok, posting on Truth Social that he is in talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping to save the platform.

Zhou expressed his gratitude and joy at the support of the president, who truly understands the TikTok platform as he himself has used it to express his thoughts and opinions, communicating with the world and generating more than 60 billion views of his content. He also assured that the company will do everything possible for the platform to prosper and promised more news in the future.
Earlier on Friday, 17 January, the Supreme Court ruled to ban TikTok. It is not yet known whether TikTok will shut down the app for users in the US this Sunday or whether the company is waiting to see if the Trump administration can reach a settlement.
