Elden Ring: Nightreign will feature a dynamic world where the map evolves based on in-game events, introducing large-scale terrain changes such as new biomes. In an interview with PCGamer, director Junya Ishizaki explained that the game's environment will change over time, with elements such as volcanoes, swamps, and forests appearing procedurally. He stated that this design choice was intended to give players more flexibility in fighting bosses and navigating the world.

Here's What We Know

Ishizaki said that the developers wanted the map to look like a giant dungeon, so that each playthrough would offer a unique experience. He noted that players will need to choose the final boss on the third day, which will affect their overall strategy. He said that this choice may lead players to seek out specific weapons, such as poisonous weapons, depending on their approach to battle.

Nightreign, set to launch in December 2024, is a standalone game set in The Lands Between with a strong focus on co-op gameplay. While retaining the core mechanics of Elden Ring, it introduces new tools, including a hook for combat and a glider for exploration.

Where To Play

Elden Ring: Nightreign is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
