The Czech Ministry of Defence has announced that the purchase of F-35 fighter jets is proceeding as planned, despite geopolitical concerns.

Here's What We Know

The contract is structured as an intergovernmental agreement that guarantees legal and logistical security. The Czech Republic will have full control over the operation of the aircraft for national defence, and the United States will not be able to remotely disable them. At the same time, access to certain cryptographic keys may be restricted, but the Czech Republic does not expect such actions from its NATO ally.

The Czech government has assured that the deal is proceeding smoothly, and the United States is providing technical support and training. Officials noted that there are currently no alternative fifth-generation aircraft capable of replacing the F-35, and NATO is gradually transitioning to this platform.

The Czech Republic remains dependent on foreign suppliers of military technology, as it does not have its own production of combat aircraft. Demand for the F-35 remains high worldwide, with 20 countries having already placed orders, which confirms the strategic importance of this contract.

Both parties also confirmed that the delivery will be carried out on schedule. The Czech Ministry of Defence emphasises that these fighters will ensure the long-term effectiveness of the fleet and bring the country on a par with other NATO countries.
