iPhone users in the EU will be able to replace Apple Maps with Google Maps or Waze

In the iOS 18.4 update, Apple is adding the ability to select a default navigation app, but this feature will only be available in the European Union.
Here's What We Know
iPhone users will be able to set Google Maps, Waze, or another navigation app as the default in Settings: "Applications, Default Apps, Navigation. This means that the selected service will automatically open for route planning instead of Apple Maps.
However, this change will not affect the United States. In this country, iPhone owners can only choose standard apps for mail, browser, messages, calls, passwords, keyboard, and translation, which was added in iOS 18.4.
Apple explains that the choice of a default navigation app was part of its compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which requires large tech companies to provide more freedom to users. Alternative app stores and third-party access to NFC for payments have already been introduced in Europe.
The final release of iOS 18.4 is expected in April.
Google recently updated the Song Search feature in its iOS app, adding quick access to song search history. Users can now view recent searches directly in the app.
Apple has also announced that some Siri features that were supposed to be available in iOS 18 will take longer than expected to be developed and will probably only appear in iOS 19. In a statement, the company confirmed the delay and explained that new features for a more personalised Siri require additional time to implement.
