It's been over four years since the first AirTag was released, and Apple hasn't released an update to this tracker yet. However, it seems that this will change in the near future.

Here's What We Know

According to the latest leaks, AirTag 2 is scheduled to launch in May or June.

The company has been gradually improving AirTag functionality through firmware updates. For example, iOS 18.2 introduced the ability to share the geolocation of things. At the same time, the device itself has remained unchanged since its launch.

Back in February, a well-known Kosutami insider announced the launch of the second generation of the tracker in May or June. This information coincides with the previous forecasts of Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who spoke about the launch "closer to the middle of the year" back in November. And in January, he noted that AirTag 2 was almost ready for production.

The new product is expected to have the same design but with a number of improvements. Among them are a significantly increased range, a new wireless chip, and improved privacy protection features.

If the rumours are true, AirTag 2 will be the next device to be officially unveiled by Apple.

Recently, the iPhone 17 Air was shown in the Chinese Apple Store. In a video posted by an insider, the prototype was compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which once again highlighted the difference in thickness between the models. This confirms previous leaks about the new design. Apple usually hides its products before announcements, so the appearance of this prototype in the store raises questions.
