Netflix adds subtitles with dialogue text only for new series
Netflix is launching a new subtitle format for its users. Starting with the fifth season of the psychological thriller You, subtitles are available that include only dialogue, without additional audio cues.
Here's What We Know
Previously, subtitles for people with hearing impairments (SDH/CC) included not only dialogue but also audio descriptions, such as [phone ringing], [knocking on the door], or [Don't Stop Believing song playing].

The new option allows users to view content without these additional descriptions, which can be useful for those who prefer plain text without unnecessary sound effects. These new subtitles can now be found in the English section of the language selection menu. At the same time, the standard SDH/CC remains under the "English (CC)" label.
Netflix reports that the new subtitle format will be available not only for the fifth season of You, but also for all future original projects. This will apply to all languages supported by the service where the SDH/CC standard is used.
Netflix has recently started testing a new search function based on OpenAI artificial intelligence. According to Bloomberg, the tool is currently available to selected users in Australia and New Zealand. Unlike the classic search by title, actor, or genre, this feature allows you to search for content by mood or description using ordinary spoken language. For example, a query such as "something sad" can bring up drama series or films.
