About a third of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to be purchased by the Nordic and Baltic countries will be assembled at enterprises in Lithuania.

Here's What We Know

Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Palutskas said that about 30% of the ordered CV90 infantry fighting vehicles will be assembled in Lithuania with the involvement of local enterprises. A total of about 1,000 vehicles are expected to be purchased, of which Lithuania will receive about a hundred. Lithuanian manufacturers will be involved in the production process.

In addition, the Swedish defence industry is considering building factories in Lithuania to manufacture modern weapons, some of which will remain in the country and some will be exported.

Earlier, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said that Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Lithuania plan to jointly purchase hundreds of CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. At the same time, Finland later clarified that it was not considering participation in the joint procurement.

In short, the Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicles continue to gain popularity in Europe and may become the most widely used infantry fighting vehicles in the armed forces of European countries by 2030. In addition to the joint procurement, CV90s have already entered or are planned to enter service with the armies of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Denmark and the Netherlands.
